Bio Alarna Tuck
Alarna started in Orthotics in 1978 and was in the first intake of the then new CIT O&P Training Course. She was employed by the Wellington Hospital Board as their first female Orthotic trainee. She moved to Auckland in 1981 and completed her training there. She took a break from Orthotics for approximately 3 years before taking up a position with the Orthotic Centre in Auckland, where she worked for the next 8 ½ years. She then moved to Napier where she has been employed by the Hawke’s Bay DHB for the last 12 years as a Orthotist, Team Leader & currently Charge Orthotist. She enjoys the clinical and fabricating aspects of her role and gets a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment from her mainly paediatric workload. Alarna has been a member of ISPO NZ and NZOPA and has held various positions on the executive team of the latter for a number of years.
